Due to COVID-19, the 2020 summer season at Central City Opera was canceled. As the Props Manager, the Production Manager and I created a remote intern mentoring program through Zoom with our two props interns contracted for that season. Each week from June 17th to August 7th we had hour long meetings where I taught different props techniques, assigned projects, created separate video tutorials, and did portfolio/resume reviews.

 

Throughout the summer, each intern was assigned three props' projects to complete. These projects consisted of creating a pastry food prop, a sushi food prop and a found object prop. Not only did this mentoring allow the interns to learn and work during the summer. But it was also used to create a bond between myself, and the interns for the following summer.
